An Extra “You” Who Knows How to Make Your Dream Home a Reality

Flying Point Consulting acts as an owner’s representative in Maine high-end home building and renovation projects. We are not a builder or contractor. Instead, we step into the shoes of our clients and represent them in every phase of their project. We make it our mission to listen to our clients and truly understand their vision, budget, lifestyle, and aesthetic, so that all are reflected in the planning, design, details, and finishes of their home.

Think of us a highly experienced, commercially sophisticated, locally-connected alter ego: another “you” who knows the ins-and-outs of every aspect of the residential design, site planning, local permitting, budgeting, sourcing, and construction process in Maine. We save our clients the lost time, extra expense, and inevitable stress that can come from shoehorning those tasks into their already-busy lives.

We are laser focused on getting you the home you want. Our clients frequently delegate us to oversee and manage every service provider involved in their home-building or renovation project. We commonly help our clients select the right architects, engineers, designers, suppliers, and contractors for implementing their vision, and then we keep those providers on-task, on-budget, on-time, and on the same page. Many of our clients grow to trust us to make day-to-day decisions in their stead, knowing that our only mission is to achieve their precise vision for their dream Maine home.

Our services on a construction or renovation project typically include, for example:

  • Guiding owners through the planning process. Assisting them in thinking through designs, concepts, and materials to make sure they best suit converting their vision into reality.

  • Assisting with selecting a personalized team that will best bring your vision to reality (builders, architects, designers and others).

  • Communicating and coordinating owner priorities and vision across the full team of architects, contractors, sub-contractors and vendors.

  • Invoice management and oversight on time-and-materials contracts.

  • Assisting in evaluating, editing, and negotiating contractor and supplier contracts.

  • Guidance and representation of owner interests in local planning and approval processes.

  • Researching and selecting materials, fixtures, appliances, and décor.

  • Identifying and incorporating details within the planning process to maximize efficiencies and functionality in the ultimate design and building process.

  • Engaging in a personalized process for choosing among the hundreds of small but consequential options that make a dream home real (i.e. floor materials, countertops, bathroom/light/other fixtures, window/door trim, exteriors, etc).

  • Problem solving to address the multitude of surprises that can come up on any building project.
